LEGO Speed Champions Adds Ken Block’s Hoonicorn

LEGO Speed Champions is bringing one of the most iconic modern drift cars to brick form with the release of Ken Block’s ’65 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn V1. Scheduled to launch June 1, 2026, the 345-piece set recreates the instantly recognizable all-wheel-drive Mustang built by HOONIGAN and featured in Ken Block’s Gymkhana SEVEN film.

Designed for builders ages 9 and up, the set captures several of the Hoonicorn’s signature details, including the exposed velocity stacks protruding through the hood, custom wheels, aggressive body styling, and Block’s iconic number 43 graphics. The kit also includes a Ken Block minifigure equipped with a Hoonicorn hat, branded jacket, and alternate racing helmet.

The Hoonicorn remains one of the most recognizable custom Mustangs ever built, blending vintage muscle car styling with extreme drift performance. LEGO’s Speed Champions version continues the brand’s growing lineup of enthusiast-focused automotive replicas, giving collectors and younger builders the opportunity to display a scaled-down version of the legendary machine.

Once assembled, the completed model measures over 1.5 inches high, 6.5 inches long, and 3 inches wide, making it ideal for display on a desk, shelf, or collector’s showcase.

Toyota MR2 Rumors Heat Up After Fuji Speedway Test Mule

Usually, we try not to give too much credence to future product rumors until they are officially confirmed, because Internet speculation is often wrong as much as it is right.

But this story, which came to us via Car and Driver, is worth spotlighting even if it turns out to be more smoke than fire. On that score, we think it could be legit mostly because the manufacturer in question, Toyota, has been hinting at this product for a while.

We’re talking about the MR2, a mid-engine two-seater that ceased production in 2007. But, over the past few years, Toyota has hinted that it could return. Speculation really began to heat up in 2023 when the company revealed the FT-Se Concept at the Japan Mobility Show.

The FT-Se, pictured, looks very much like it could be a new MR2, but there’s a bit of a catch. At the unveiling, Toyota referred to it as, “a high-performance BEV model”.

Given the MR2 was a gas car does this mean the FT-Se might be something else entirely? Toyota said at the time that the FT-Se is, “one of the options for sports cars in the carbon-neutral era”, so it could mean that it’s not an MR2 successor.

Speculation has grown steadily since, and intrigue spiked earlier this month when a test mule that looks a lot like an MR2 was spotted on track at Fuji Speedway in Japan.

Videos posted to X by user @You_SuiKoyoAZ show a dark grey sports coupe with a rear wing and large side vents posting laps at Fuji Speedway. And this car is not an EV, as an engine can clearly be heard in the videos.

According to Car and Driver, the user was at the track visiting the Fuji Speedway Motorsport Museum when this development car was out turning laps.

Car and Driver suggested the engine powering the mule could be Toyota’s G20E turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder, but they also noted that there are at least six different test mules in existence. They base this info on a trip to Japan earlier this year when they drove one of them. That one was powered by a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo (G16E-GTS) that powers the GR Yaris (Yaris M Concept shown below), a car sold in Europe, but not North America.

The magazine says that Toyota plans to build an additional 14 development mules and each will be different. But, they say, all will be mid-engine with all-wheel drive.

While a production car reveal is likely still a long way off, it seems like Toyota’s much-loved roadster might have a future and that is a very exciting prospect.

Honda to pause Civic Si production at the end of 2026

After five years on sale, Honda has confirmed the Si sedan for the 11^th generation Civic will cease production at the end of 2026. But there’s an asterisk, and it's a big one – this is a pause, not a retirement. Honda has said Civic Si production will resume but gave no timeframe for its return.

An internal document shared on Reddit said the pause was due to, “evolving business conditions,” in the U.S., namely shifting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations regarding certification for 2027 model year vehicles and beyond.

The statement goes on to say, “Honda has made the decision to pause the production of the trims that utilize the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired to the 6-speed manual transmission (6MT) at the conclusion of the 2026 model year.”

The Acura Integra A-Spec, which utilizes the same powertrain, will also be paused. Further, the statement says Civic production volumes will not be impacted at the Honda Canada plant in Alliston, Ontario that builds Civic sedans for North America. It says the Si will be replaced with other Civic sedan models.

American Honda emailed a statement to Road & Track saying, in part, “Honda and Acura currently plan for both trims to return to the lineup, and American Honda expects to share more details at the appropriate time. Based on current forecasts, American Honda expects dealer inventory to remain available into early 2027.”

Honda hasn’t said the pause is due to tailpipe emissions specifically, but it sure seems like it to us. Whether production will resume later in 2027 or the model year will be skipped entirely, is uncertain. It’s possible both cars won’t return until the next generation, which could be a few years away.

Either way, the Civic remains a vitally important car for Honda in North America. It’s the company’s bestselling car in the U.S. and Canada. U.S. sales through Q2 2026 (June 30) were 132,440, which is a 3.3 percent gain over the same period in 2025.

Report: Volkswagen could axe up to 10 models by 2030

Things have not been going well for Volkswagen over the past few years. Declining sales and profits, particularly in China, have pushed company leadership to consider drastic measures to improve overall competitiveness and profitability.

In addition to plant closures, which could potentially shutter four or five German assembly plants across the Group, various reports suggest the company is also looking to slash its current model lineup by as much as 50 percent by 2030.

According to a recent Motor1 report, available options for Volkswagen Group models will shrink by 75 percent, and annual production capacity will drop from 10 million to 9 million units annually by the end of the decade.

While Volkswagen hasn’t confirmed any plant closures yet, it has mentioned publicly its plans to shrink its product portfolios along the lines mentioned above.

According to Motor1’s report, Volkswagen won’t drop these models overnight, but steps are already underway to reduce the variants of those impacted. It says that while these cars are still in production they are “living on borrowed time.”

So, which ones are on the chopping block?

Volkswagen isn’t commenting publicly, but Motor1 cites a list of potential cuts that was reported in Bild, a German newspaper.

Not all of these will have relevance in North America, but there are a few nameplates that do. For the Volkswagen brand, Bild says the Jetta sedan and compact Taos SUV will be discontinued when their current generations end.

The Taos has only been around since 2022, but the Jetta goes back to 1979 and is the brand’s last surviving sedan in North America. The current seventh generation model has been around since 2018, and was refreshed in 2021, and again in 2024.

Despite a shrinking sedan market, the Jetta still sells relatively well. U.S. sales were down in 2025, but, with 54,291 sold, it still ranked fourth on the company’s sales chart. Through Q2 this year, its sales are up 9.7 percent, ranking third behind Tiguan and Atlas SUVs.

Elsewhere, Bild reports four Porsche models could be discontinued, including the battery-electric Taycan sedan, Cayenne Coupe, and 718 sports coupes (Boxster and Cayman). Interestingly, the 718s that could be dropped are the gas-powered versions just announced last year, not the EV variants. Bild doesn’t mention those, so they could survive.

Motor1 mentions that Porsche has a Capital Markets Day, called Strategy 2035, coming up on October 7, so we should know more about its future product plans then.

As for Audi, Bild suggests two SUVs, the Q5 Sportback and Q6 e-tron EV, could be discontinued at the end of their current lifecycles. This likely won’t happen soon, however, as both just went on sale in 2025.

Two other models that are sold primarily in Europe, the Skoda Fabia, a subcompact hatchback, and the Cupra Raval, an electric subcompact that just went on sale this year, are also rumored to be discontinued.

The Bild list doesn’t include any Lamborghini or Bentley models, but Motor1 notes that is likely due to those brands having smaller lineups and cars that are more profitable despite smaller sales volumes.

Motor1 notes that profit margins are the biggest priorities for Volkswagen. Big sales numbers alone aren’t enough to keep models around. Group CEO Oliver Blume has said as much recently, telling Bild, “Our products are very popular – but we’re not making enough money on them. That’s why we need to further reduce our costs – across all categories.”

If the rumors are true, and these 10 cars – and potentially others – disappear over the next few years, Volkswagen will be a radically altered automaker that bears little resemblance to the one we know today.
